TASSIECRAY

Welcome to Our Website

Australians are well known for their love of fun and their great country. We also like to play with words and situations by making up names for people or things which are colourful and full of fun, for example someone with red hair is “blue”, cancer is “Jimmy Dancer”, tomato sauce is “dead horse” and so on. Thus it came to pass that having the surname of McCray was all that was needed to be landed with the nickname “Crayfish”.

We live in the Australian state of Tasmania, named after the seaman Abel Tasman. Tasmania is an island state located at the bottom of Australia and for those who do not know it is the heart shaped island. Tasmania is well known for its history especially as an infamous penal settlement for Britain and its wonderfully clean environment, beautiful vistas and great food. Tassie as it is colloquially known is also famous for its magnificent crayfish or crays.

I guess you might by now have guessed what this is leading up to.

Tasmania – Tassie; McCray – Crayfish. Put them together and you get: Tassiecray
